Trinity's artist collaborative is led by Helen Stone, Trinity Covenant
Church's Deaconess, and Jackie Locantore, Art Director. Covenant Sanctuary
Studio is a community open to all individuals who wish to meet on Mondays,
daytime and/or evening, at Trinity Covenant Church, in order to explore the
concept of creativity and to practice or learn about art. As we are all
created in the image of our Creator God, we learn to tap into our individual
creative gifts among others who are doing the same. Sometimes we learn by
the observation and the encouragement of other creatively expressive
artists. All are welcome to participate, observe, inquire about or teach an
art. The studio is stocked with many art supplies. Bring your own supplies
or use the studio's supplies to explore a new craft or art or to practice &
teach one.
The name,
Covenant Sanctuary Studio was born from our hope, belief and dream
of creating a safe haven for people to come and explore their innate
creativity. The word Covenant reflects our relationship with the Awesome
Creator Father of the universe. The Church is called to be a Sanctuary which
offers peace, a sense of belonging and fellowship. Thus the purpose of
Covenant Sanctuary Studio is to build an open community of individuals, who
are willing to explore and develop their unique creative gifts bestowed on
them by God, the Father of light and life. Our studio community recently had
a month long art show at the Bridgewater Public Library where we received
rave reviews! We anticipate booking many more art shows and we look forward
to organizing annual arts and crafts fair.
Monday's studio time begins in the morning with an optional 11:00 am brunch
of coffee or tea and muffins. Shortly after, the community utilizes the
studio to work on individual projects or to share their projects, techniques
and creative ideas. At 1:30 participants break for a brief spiritual
reflection and lunch which is prepared at the studio. There is an interval
from 5 - 6 pm after which evening participants join us until 8:30 pm. Feel
free to drop in at any time for any length of time between 11:00 am and 8:30
pm! Directions may be found in the website's main menu.
Art Studio Instructor, Jackie Locantore has a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts
from Bridgewater State College. Jackie grew up closely involved in fine art
as her mother's family runs Vose Galleries, America's oldest family of fine
art dealers. The Vose family has been in business for 6 generations. She is
currently listed in the Polymer Clay International Teacher's Directory and
has been actively involved in creating or teaching for 30 years. Her
creative gifts include oil painting, photography, macramé, quilting, stained
glass, polymer clay, gem stone, and beaded jewelry.
Helen Stone has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State
College. For the past twenty-five years, she has been a lay minister working
with domestic violence victims, trauma victims (adults who have experienced
childhood trauma) and the homeless. In 2004, she was ordained as Deaconess
at Trinity Covenant Church. Covenant Sanctuary Studio was conceived out of
the belief that art can be both healing and restorative by enabling one to
grow emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically when we become part
of a supportive community. Helen's creative gifts include drama, polymer
clay, sewing and crocheting. Currently she is exploring the technique of art
journaling. For spiritual inspiration visit Helen's Corner, a spiritual
journey prayerfully expressed in a journal format.
